Sleep Chaos!

May 22, 2010 - The first time Kai sleeps in her crib

Somehow, we’ve all gotten alot more tired in the past week or so.  As you can see in the above picture, Kai has the capacity to sleep in her crib…but she’s only slept in it once so far, and it’s been downhill since that day.  In the past week, she’s been extra needy (of the boob, of Mrs Bean) and she has also been waking up at 3 or 4am for 2 or 3 hours, babbling, complaining and refusing to go back to sleep.  When I hold her, she refuses to be inclined in any way – she wants to be upright – no sitting, no leaning against pillow.  We’ve tried teething tablets, infant tylenol and whiskey (just kidding) but it doesn’t seem like she’s awake due to pain.  We think.

I’m assuming this too shall pass, that in a few days/weeks Kai’s nighttime sleeping won’t be as chaotic, and that she’ll settle into and daytime naps more easily.  However, in assuming that this will pass, I really want it to pass SOON!!!

  1. Sorry about the lack of sleep. Hm, doesn’t want to be inclined. I wonder if she’s developed a little reflux?

  2. I just re-read my post, and I guess it sounds like it could be reflux. Except…she’s fine with Mrs Bean holding her at an incline! Perhaps she’s just picky…

  3. Yeah, there’s so many things it could be at this point. The fun’s in finding out what…you know, if ‘fun’ is analogous with ‘tearing one’s hair out.’ lol

  4. These little babies are so unreliable when it comes to sleep! At the same time they are so gosh darn cute. Kai nice work at sleeping in the crib.
